Why genuine AirPods matter.
Many counterfeit products on the market are complete imitation Bluetooth earphones made to look like AirPods. They should not be treated as genuine replacement components for an existing Apple AirPods set.
A replacement earbud or charging case must match the correct AirPods generation and model family to work together properly. Model number, serial information and firmware version can be viewed in Apple device settings and are useful checks when identifying a replacement. No single code should be relied on as the only proof of authenticity.
